Trail Blazers......our region has been called the land of trails, and it is easy to see why! Newly developed trails that criss-cross the region provide hikers, mountain bikers, and even horseback riders miles of novice to expert trails through forests, meadows, and wetlands on both private and public lands.

Check out the Seaway Trail, a designated National Recreation Trail stretching from Massena in northeastern New York, along Lakes Ontario and Erie, and into Pennsylvania. From nature gazing to trailblazing, choose your own pace and watch out for frog crossings!

Water Lovers......have your kids ever felt minnows nibbling at their toes? Or swung off a branch to go splashing into a crisp, clear lake? Once they're in the water, you may have a hard time getting them out.

Don't forget to shoot the scheduled white water rapids along more than 20 miles of river. Take it easy in your canoe on our 7 mile lake; we've got perfect boating, sailing, waterskiing, and kayaking. When it comes to boating, we've got it all. Catch the next 33-pound world record Coho Salmon or hook a 16-pound trout as you fly fish the headwaters of the Salmon River. You can land "the big one" on Lake Ontario or scuba dive for old shipwrecks in Lake Ontario. Be sure to enjoy the spawning show at the NYSDEC Altmar Fish Hatchery, which is open to the public. There's no end to what you can do at The Great Salmon Wilderness.

More than 278 miles of groomed and marked snowmobile trails within the county link the expansive Tug Hill region to the Adirondacks. The Great Salmon Wilderness boasts hundreds of miles of both groomed and back country cross-country ski trails.

Historians......explore such sites as the historic Selkirk Lighthouse in Port Ontario, the abandoned railroad stone archways, or enjoy the simple old country charm along the roadways intertwining throughout The Great Salmon Wilderness.

Vacationers......there's no end to what you can do in the surrounding area! Catch the fast-paced world of race car driving at the Oswego Speedway or visit Turning Stone, New York State's only casino, just 45 minutes away. Just a short drive away is Syracuse with all of its museums, nationally recognized zoo, professional baseball games, and regional shopping malls.
